Shipping your equipment to Lawrence Electronics
Safe and secure shipping is very important when returning your equipment to Lawrence Electronics for repair or calibration. Without enough packing supplies, your equipment may be damaged in transit. Shipping your Lawrence Gauge
Packing Instructions
Do Not Send:
- For Gauge S/N 21206 and lower: Check for and remove Oven Temperature Hg Thermometer on inside right side of gauge. Access by opening both sloping panel screw latches. Keep this thermometer and the drilled rubber stopper in your lab. This thermometer may break if it remains in gauge for shipment.
- For ALL: Tighten gauge sloping panel’s “open” latches with slot head screwdriver
- For Gauges S/N 21112 and lower: Remove 2 red “CLEAN UP” light covers and 2 incandescent light bulbs by vertically lifting. Place in small plastic bag and tape to sloping panel of gauge. Newer gauges have LED lights with out removable covers.
- Secure your recorder. Molytek – Tighten 2 latches holding recorder in Gauge (clockwise). Tape T-Bar paper bail to paper roller to prevent loss. Yokogawa – Tape door closed.
- Disconnect probe cable from gauge, then wrap in bubble wrap.
- Place gauge in large clear plastic bag and fold bag opening over gauge, to protect gauge from moisture. (Customs & freight forwarder will look inside box.)
- Re-use original Lawrence shipping box, or other sturdy double wall ship carton. Lawrence box measures approx. 30” x 22” x 17” (76 x 56 x 43 cm). If unavailable, line appropriate box with 2” (5 cm) medium density polyurethane foam. Box sturdiness and foam are crucial to successful shipment. Contact us about purchasing a hard-sided, wheeled Pelican Case for your gauge.
- Place gauge “feet down” in box. Make sure that foam or other cushioning material surrounds the gauge on all sides. Place “Fragile” and “This side up” labels on each side of the box, labels should be placed so gauge is feet-down when arrows point up.
- Place wrapped probe cable securely in box behind gauge. Cables packed on top of gauges have broken lights, switches, and meters.
- Fill any gaps between gauge and foam using bubble wrap or other sturdy packing material. Use enough packing material that gauge cannot shift during transit.
- Seal box securely with tape on all openings to prevent moisture entry.
Do Not Send:
- Power cord
- Anodes
